VP, Public Relations Research practice at Harris Interactive.


As Vice President of Harris Interactive’s Public Relations Research practice, Laura Light (primary author of Over the Wire) leads a team that provides public relations clients globally with actionable market insights.

Laura has worked in the market research and consulting industry for 15 years and has been at Harris Interactive for the last ten. Her specialty at Harris is designing and analyzing studies for public release, but she also lends her expertise to proprietary research endeavors including testing initial campaign concepts, strengthening brand loyalty and awareness, and measuring the impact and effectiveness of a program. Her studies span a wide range of industries including: public policy, technology, health care, and financial services. Prior to Harris Interactive, she worked at a smaller boutique market research firm and at several non-profit organizations.

Today, Laura leads a recurrent Harris Interactive seminar entitled Chasing the Dream Headline: Creating Studies for Public Release – the Process, the Strategies, and the Pitfalls, designed to provide guidance to PR professionals on creating effective research for public release. She also co-authors Harris Interactive’s quarterly newsletter, Newsmaker Insights, an e-newletter for PR professionals seeking to inform, enhance and measure the success of client engagements by leveraging research.

Laura earned her Master’s degree in Public Policy from Harvard University and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from Northwestern University.
