Believe It or Not? A Post with NO Data.

Next week is the one-year birthday of Over the Wire.  After 403 posts, 32 topics, and over a dozen guest authors, my baby is no longer a baby anymore. 

Now, as every parent knows, a first birthday means WAY more to the mom/dad than to the child.  But rather than me celebrating with a new MacBook Pro (which appears too indulgent in these economic times) or one hundred silver balloons (which would be too environmentally un-friendly) or celebrating with cake and ice cream (I still balk at America's favorite flavor), we will instead spend the next week regaling our top posts from the past year. 

So, look forward to next week when different members of the PR team will reflect on their favorite entries - or alternatively, those that made them realize we live in a melting pot of disillusionment.

Welcome

Welcome to the inaugural post of Over the Wire…

Now that the holidays are over and I am back to my everyday routine, I am thrilled to have the time and opportunity to put together this blog for my clients and to write about the issues that face our country and our world.  I’ve wanted to start this for such a long time because we have so much incredible and diverse content at Harris Interactive from clients who have commissioned research on the very real and the very quirky.  And now, I get to bring all of this data to you with the hopes that some of it will capture your interest and make you stronger in your interactions with clients. 

 

As background, I lead the PR practice at Harris Interactive, and my expertise is in designing and analyzing data for public release.  I will have the primary responsibility for posting entries and providing my personal perspective for this blog.  All of the data used will come from The Harris Poll, unless otherwise noted as commissioned by our clients. 

Other folks at Harris that I deeply respect will guest author when the topic appeals to them… you can expect to hear from Humphrey Taylor (Chairman of the Harris Poll); Justin Greeves (Senior VP of Public Affairs); and Regina Corso (Director of the Harris Poll)… among others…

The topics will be constantly changing and the data updated often… So we hope you will check back frequently, ask us questions, challenge our rationale, and give us some context for what this means to you.  And of course, let us know if there are certain topics on which you are eager to have some data insight … First entry arrives tomorrow…
